Jennifer Lopez recently got emotional while discussing her twins, Max and Emme, heading off to college. Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the 56-year-old singer admitted she’s been “crying for two months” and expects more tears at their graduation ceremonies.
Lopez explained that her children, who attended different high schools, will also be going to separate colleges.
Despite her superstar status, she insisted she’ll personally help them move into their dorms, even if it causes a commotion. She joked that while many freshmen rush to Target for supplies, her twins already have everything they need and will simply pack up their rooms.
Lopez, who shares Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony, said she hopes her kids will miss home and return often, though she understands their desire for independence.
She recalled her own excitement to leave home at their age, noting that she only recently began feeling the weight of their departure. Writing yearbook notes for them brought her to tears, underscoring how deeply emotional this transition has been.
Lopez emphasized that she wants her children to pursue their dreams freely, even if it means adjusting to life without them at home.
Beyond her family life, Lopez continues to shine professionally. On the same day as her Kimmel appearance, she attended the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival, stunning in a green gown and receiving the inaugural Adelante Award for Industry.
She has also settled into her new $18 million Hidden Hills home, which sources describe as her “Barbie dreamhouse.”
Lopez is embracing this new chapter with optimism, balancing the bittersweet emotions of motherhood with the excitement of personal freedom and career recognition.
