 ‘You will be arrested’ — NYSC DG warns corps members over cybercrime offences Olakunle Nafiu, director-general (DG) of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), says serving corps members are not exempted from Nigeria’s cybercrime law during their mandatory national service year. Nafiu spoke in Abuja on Thursday during an interview, where he noted that corps members are citizens and are bound by the constitution and other extant laws regulating online conduct, cyber activities, and public behaviour. Nafiu noted that allegations of cyberbullying involving corps members would be investigated and handled by relevant law enforcement agencies in line with the law.

 City Boy Movement Denies Links With Adepoju Salako Over Alleged U.S. Fraud Conviction The City Boy Movement has distanced itself from claims linking one Adepoju Babatunde Salako to the organisation following reports surrounding an alleged fraud conviction in the United States. The group insisted that Salako has never been a member, official, or representative of the movement at any level. In a statement issued in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Mohammed Abdullahi, the movement described as false and misleading reports circulating online suggesting that Salako was affiliated with the group.  Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, has issued a strong warning to anyone contemplating a coup, declaring that such attempts are futile as Nigerians, both military and civilian, would vigorously resist any move to overthrow the country’s democratic government. Speaking during an interview on Television on Friday, May 29, 2026, the retired Lieutenant General stressed that democracy remains far superior to military rule and reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ unwavering commitment to defending the nation’s democratic system.  NELFUND DEBUNKS REPORTS OF SUSPENSION OF STUDENTS  UPKEEP ALLOWANCES  The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has dismissed as false and misleading reports circulating on social media alleging that the Federal Government has suspended the payment of upkeep allowances to beneficiaries of the student loan scheme.         In a statement, the Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, describes the publications as fabricated and aimed at creating panic, confusion, and distrust among students and the general public. According to NELFUND, neither the Federal Government nor the agency has issued any directive concerning the suspension of upkeep allowance payments. The Fund stresses that the viral newspaper cover being circulated online was not an authentic publication of the Nigerian Tribune and warns the public against relying on unverified information.
