Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London.  Kogi Governor Abolishes Tax Clearance Requirement for Student Registration

Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has ordered the immediate removal of the Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC) as a requirement for students' registration in state-owned tertiary institutions.

This directive, announced by the Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service, Salihu Enehe, during a media briefing in Lokoja, aims to reduce the financial burden on parents and guardians while promoting education in the state.

Enehe clarified, “Parents and guardians are no longer required to present a TCC for registering their children and wards in Kogi’s tertiary institutions.”

However, he stressed the importance of tax compliance, warning that tax evasion remains a serious offence. “Despite removing this requirement to encourage education, all taxable citizens must fulfil their civic duty by paying taxes. Non-compliance may lead to penalties, including fines or imprisonment of up to six months,” he added.

The decision comes after public backlash last week when some parents were denied access to registration for their children in state-owned universities due to the TCC requirement.
