 BAUCHI STATE POLICE COMMAND PRESS RELEASE POLICE ARREST SUSPECTS FOR CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY, DISTURBANCE OF PUBLIC PEACE AND MISCHIEF AT PDP SECRETARIAT, BAUCHI Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command, attached to 'B' Division GRA, have arrested two suspects in connection with criminal conspiracy, disturbance of public peace, and mischief following an attack on the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Secretariat in Bauchi. According to a situation report received at the Command, on 24th May 2026 at about 1400 hours, unknown persons stormed the PDP Secretariat office located along Maiduguri Bypass while the party’s governorship primary election was in progress. The intruders disrupted the peace of law-abiding citizens, vandalized the campaign banner of the PDP governorship candidate, and damaged the windscreens of several vehicles parked along the roadside before fleeing on motorcycles. BANDITS HAVE ABDUCTED MAJOR GENERAL RABE ABUBAKAR (RTD) AND HIS WIFE IN MATAZU LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF KATSINA STATE.(PHOTO).

 Bandits have abducted Major General Rabe Abubakar (rtd) and his wife in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.


According to a security source who spoke with Daily Trust, Abubakar, who was Director of Defence Information, was travelling to Katsina for a wedding when the armed men struck on Saturday, May 30, 2026.


The driver was said to have escaped with gunshot injury but the retired General and his wife were whisked into the forest.


In a video circulating on social media, the vehicle in which the victims were travelling was seen parked inside Matazu Divisonal Police Headquarters.


At least two gunshot holes were spotted on the body of the red Peugeot 504 car.


The military has commenced efforts to secure the release of the retired senior officer and his wife.


“We have received the sad news of his abduction and that of his wife, and we will act accordingly to ensure he and his wife are rescued,” a top military source said.


Information circulated on a military veterans’ platform, read; “Maj. Gen. Rabe Abubakar, former Director of Defence Information, was kidnapped together with his wife on his way to Katsina today. He was kidnapped along Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.


“His driver escaped with a gunshot injury. The senior officer’s Peugeot 406, red in colour, is parked at Matazu Division of the Nigeria Police Force. Please pass to authorities as appropriate.”
