Deputies with the Richland County Sheriff's Office were called to a home in the Hillwood subdivision in West Augusta, Georgia, at 9:21 a.m. yesterday morning, Saturday, June 6th.
Once at the residence, deputies discovered 3 month old Zamora Robinson suffering fatal injuries consistent with a dog attack.
The 6-bedroom home is a foster home that has several foster children residing there currently. There is also a Cane Corso that lives inside of the home. Deputies quickly removed all the occupants of the home and began an investigation.
Richland County Coroner, Mark Bowen, pronounced Zamora deceased on scene and determined that she had in fact, passed away as a result of injuries from a serious dog attack.
The Cane Corso was removed from the home by Richland County Animal Services.
The mother, Cari Robinson, had been staying in the home with her former foster mother after giving birth to Zamora in March of this year.
There have been no charges filed in the case. Authorities are gathering evidence and interviewing the residents of the home to establish the circumstances surrounding Zamora's untimely passing.
Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragic passing.
