The City Boy Movement has distanced itself from claims linking one Adepoju Babatunde Salako to the organisation following reports surrounding an alleged fraud conviction in the United States. The group insisted that Salako has never been a member, official, or representative of the movement at any level.
In a statement issued in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Mohammed Abdullahi, the movement described as false and misleading reports circulating online suggesting that Salako was affiliated with the group. According to the statement, “Mr. Adepoju Babatunde Salako is not a member of the City Boy Movement and has never held any office, appointment or official position whatsoever within the structure of the Movement.”
The organisation further stated that Salako was never authorised to function as a coordinator, spokesperson, mobilisation officer, or representative of the movement either in the United States or elsewhere.
It alleged that attempts to associate him with the group formed part of a broader effort to tarnish organisations linked to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling political bloc.
The group also referenced separate reports identifying Salako as a coordinator of another pro-Tinubu platform known as “Relax, Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria,” arguing that the confusion highlighted what it described as indiscriminate attribution of political affiliations.
While stressing that it would not interfere with any legal proceedings involving Salako, the movement maintained that it would resist any “false attribution” aimed at damaging its reputation.
