 Trial begins of Central African ex-president Bozize over war crimes A UN-backed court in the the Central African Republic will on Tuesday begin the trial in absentia of former president Francois Bozize, over crimes against humanity committed between 2009 and 2013. The alleged crimes committed by members of Bozize's security forces include murder, enforced disappearance, torture and rape. Bozize, 79, who seized power in a 2003 coup before being overthrown 10 years later by rebels, has been living in exile in Guinea-Bissau since March 2023. But three of his former senior military officers, Eugene Barret Ngaikosset, Vianney Semndiro and Firmin Junior Danboy, are all in pre-trial detention in the Central African Republic. COURT HALTS INVESTIGATION INTO ALLEGED J-CARES MISAPPROPRIATION OF FUND. (PHOTO).


 Federal High Court has issued an interim injunction restraining Jigawa state government from taking any further step in the investigation of alleged misappropriation of COVID-19 Economic Recovery and stimulation program J-CARES Result Area II under FADAMA funds.


The court sitting in Kano State granted the injunction in a suit filed by the former Jigawa State Coordinator of FADAMA III, Alhaji Aminu Isah Ringim, challenging the process followed by the government-appointed committee to review the implementation of the J-CARES FADAMA intervention in the state.

Aminu Isah Ringim pray for the court to restrained the Jigawa state government from using the reports untill given a fair hearing.


In his ruling, the presiding judge of the court, Justice Isa Liman, issued an interim injunction restraining the Defendant/Respondent in the case from publishing, gazetting, taking any action, or extracting a “White Paper” from the committee report.


The Judge said, the restrictions shall be complied untill the determination of the court for the fair hearing and other concerns expressed by the complainant.


It could be recalled that, the state governor has suspended the state Fadama project coordinator and ordered for a full investigation in the Implementation of the J-CARES FADAMA intervention on the alleged misappropriation of the funds allocated to the sector.

When contacted about the interim injunction, the Jigawa State Attorney General, Barrister Bello Abdulkadir Fanini, stated that they had not yet received the interim injunction, which has a one-week lifespan. Once received, they will study it and respond accordingly.
