The bill paves the way for a referendum on a new constitution that ⁠would allow Tshisekedi — who is currently serving his second and final term — to serve a third term as if it were his first.  PLATEAU STATE POLICE COMMAND CONFIRMS DEATH OF THREE SECURITY PERSONNEL AT NIPSS KURU-JOS The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed the death of three security personnel at the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru- Jos during a security incident that occurred early Tuesday morning.  A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo, indicates that the incident  involved security personnel on duty at the institute.  SP Alfred Alabo disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Bassey Ewah, has deployed additional security reinforcements to the area, while patrols have been intensified to ensure the safety of residents and prevent any further breach of security. Following weeks of protests by lawyers in Nsukka and Obollo-Afor over the persistent delay of judges to recommence physical court proceedings, legal practitioners have taken further action by sealing off the Enugu State High Court in Obollo-Afor.  This move follows the continued absence of physical court sittings due to the judge's non-availability.  Consequently, all judicial activities within the court have been put on hold. The Nigerian Communications Commission, working with consultancy KPMG, has begun a comprehensive review of telecom interconnection pricing, the first major reassessment of the sector’s tariff framework in nearly a decade. The exercise, kicked off in Lagos at a mobile termination rate stakeholder forum on Tuesday, brought regulators, operators and industry participants into a structured process to reassess wholesale pricing rules that govern payments between networks for completing voice calls. Mobile Termination Rates are regulated fees paid by one operator to another to complete calls across networks. They influence competition, investment, and retail pricing. The telecom regulator said the current framework, last set in 2018 and adjusted in 2022, has been overtaken by structural changes in the market, including the rollout of 5G, the expansion of data-led services, and the entry of mobile virtual network operators. The Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers (NALPGAM) says retail cooking gas prices could fall to between N900 and N1,100 per kilogram by the end of 2026 if the Federal Government implements reforms to boost supply and cut costs. The President of NALPGAM, Mr Edu Inyang, made the projection in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Lagos. According to him, although Nigeria has recorded significant growth in local Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) production, rising demand and persistent supply chain challenges continue to keep prices high. NAN reports that cooking gas, which sold for between N900 and N1,000 per kilogram in April, now costs between N2,000 and N2,500 per kilogram in many parts of the Lagos metropolis. Inyang said Dangote Refinery and Nigeria LNG (NLNG) supplied about 87 per cent of Nigeria’s domestic LPG market in 2025.  Trial begins of Central African ex-president Bozize over war crimes A UN-backed court in the the Central African Republic will on Tuesday begin the trial in absentia of former president Francois Bozize, over crimes against humanity committed between 2009 and 2013. The alleged crimes committed by members of Bozize's security forces include murder, enforced disappearance, torture and rape. Bozize, 79, who seized power in a 2003 coup before being overthrown 10 years later by rebels, has been living in exile in Guinea-Bissau since March 2023. But three of his former senior military officers, Eugene Barret Ngaikosset, Vianney Semndiro and Firmin Junior Danboy, are all in pre-trial detention in the Central African Republic.  A well-known traditional healer, Daniel Masinga (49), has been sentenced to eight years direct imprisonment by the Burgersfort Regional Court for rape. The court heard that the 38-year-old victim visited the accused at his residence in Mooihoek, Mashemong, in June 2020 after he allegedly called her under the pretext of providing traditional medication. After consuming a concoction given to her by the accused, the victim reportedly became dizzy and disoriented. She later regained consciousness and discovered that she was being sexually assaulted. The accused allegedly threatened her with a firearm and continued assaulting her throughout the night. The matter was reported to police and investigated by the Burgersfort FCS Unit. The accused later absconded after being released on bail but was re-arrested in December 2025. Apart from the eight-year prison sentence, the court also declared him unfit to possess a firearm.

 HAJJ 2026: 1600 LAGOS PILGRIMS ARRIVE SAFELY FROM MAKKAH The 1,600 Lagos pilgrims who participated in the just-concluded Hajj exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have all arrived safely to join their respective families. The safe arrival of the last and final batch of 187 pilgrims on Saturday marked the conclusion of the 2026 Hajj operations. Speaking to journalists at the tarmac of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, the Amir-ul-Hajj and State Commissioner of Home Affairs, Ibrahim Layode said that the spiritual exercise was a success for Lagos State.  Man Announces Divorce Of Wife Via Facebook Post A Nigerian man, Muhammad Kabir, has announced the divorce of his wife, Bilkisu, through a Facebook post. Kabir made the announcement on Sunday, June 14, 2026. In the post, he wrote: “Me Muhammad Kabir, I divorce my wife Bilkisu 3 times divorce. Id!ot.”  The statement appeared to reference the Islamic practice known as triple talaq, in which a husband pronounces divorce three times to end a marriage.  The validity and legal recognition of such divorces vary depending on the jurisdiction and applicable religious or civil laws.

Dauda Madaki, has commended the vigilance and bravery of youths in Kufana community following the arrest of suspected transformer vandals in the early hours of Tuesday. The suspects, identified as Denis Reuben of Kurmin Ido, Haruna Ado of Kurmin Kwari, and another individual, were reportedly caught while allegedly attempting to steal transformer coils. Their arrest was carried out by a patrol team led by Mr. Samaila Akawu, alongside the community Youth Leader, Mr. Chris Lingo, and other vigilant youths.
