 BAUCHI STATE POLICE COMMAND  PRESS RELEASE LAUNCHING OF STATEWIDE CRACKDOWN ON VEHICLES WITH COVERED, UNAUTHORIZED OR MISSING REGISTRATION PLATES In line with the directives of the 24th indigenous Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, the Bauchi State Police Command will commence a statewide enforcement operation against vehicles with covered, defaced, unauthorized, or no registration number plates. The enforcement will take effect from Monday, 15th June, 2026. The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc (+), has directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers across the 20 LGAs to ensure effective compliance within their Areas of Responsibility. He ordered that any vehicle found in violation be promptly impounded and subjected to proper investigation in accordance with existing laws.  FRSC  PATROL OPERATION RECOVERS  STOLEN VEHICLE IN EDO STATE The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has recovered a stolen vehicle by personnel of the Iruekpen Unit Command, Edo State. In a statement by the Corps Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri, The recovery occurred on Sunday, 14 June 2026, following a distress report received by the patrol team concerning a Toyota Camry, gold in colour, with registration number RBC 987 CM, which was reportedly stolen from a church premises in Benin City earlier in the day. The suspect found in possession of the vehicle claimed to be a delivery agent but has been handed over to officers of the Nigeria Police Force and taken into custody for further interrogation.

 Matawalle: Only God Can Ultimately End Nigeria’s Insecurity Minister of State for Defence, Bello Muhammad Matawalle, has said that only God can ultimately bring an end to Nigeria’s insecurity challenges, while stressing the need for collective efforts by security agencies and citizens to restore peace across the country. Matawalle made the remarks during an interview with BBC Hausa amid renewed security concerns in parts of the country, including recent attacks and abductions in Oyo and Borno states. Between May 15 and 17, gunmen reportedly attacked three schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, abducting 39 students and seven teachers. In Borno State, armed groups also attacked schools in Mussa, Askira-Uba Local Government Area, and allegedly abducted 42 pupils. Kathryn Woessner was last seen on June 3 and was discovered on June 6. Authorities said she had no personal belongings with her when she was located. According to the men who found her, Woessner said her car had become stuck, and she was attempting to get free when she slipped while moving around the vehicle and fell into a mud-filled area roughly two feet deep. She described the mud as feeling like quicksand. Rescuers said she told them she had been stuck on her back for several days and had suffered significant sun exposure, including a serious sunburn on her face. Due to underlying medical conditions, she was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The deal covers 98 inmates; 96 men and 2 women who must consent and have at least one year left on their sentences.  The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has advised the Nigerian government to introduce taxes on fuel products and telecommunications services as part of broader efforts to increase public revenue and create fiscal space for development and social spending. The recommendation is contained in the IMF’s 2026 Article IV Consultation report on Nigeria. The Fund noted that additional tax policy measures will likely be required over the medium term, despite the country’s recent tax system overhaul. “Further tax policy changes will likely be needed—such as increasing the VAT rate, extending VAT to fuel products, rationalising tax expenditures... and introducing telecom excises—to complement administrative gains,” the IMF stated.  ZAMFARA STATE POLICE COMMAND RESCUES THREE KIDNAP VICTIMS  The Zamfara State Police Command says its continuous effort to rid the state of crime and criminality have paid off as a team of police operatives attached to the Violence Crime Response Unit (VCRU), rescued three kidnapped victims along Gurusu–Anka Road who were travelling from Bukuyum to Talata Mafara.   A statement by Yazid Abubakar, Zamfara State Police Public Relations Officer says operatives were swiftly mobilised after receiving a distress call      indicating that a large number of armed bandits wielding sophisticated weapons had blocked the Gurusu–Anka Road and kidnapped three persons travelling from Bukuyum to Talata Mafara.  POLICE FOIL DEADLY IED ATTACK IN ZAMFARA  The Zamfara State Police Command says it's operatives has foiled a planned attack after successfully detecting and destroying an Improvised Explosive Device, planted along the Kunchin Kalgo axis in Tsafe Local Government Area. A statement by the force says the explosive was discovered on Friday following credible intelligence obtained through community engagement efforts. Operatives of the Violence Crime Response Unit, working with the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, swiftly responded and neutralised the threat. Preliminary investigations revealed that the device was strategically planted by suspected bandits to cause mass casualties among commuters and other road users. The Command commended residents for providing timely information and assured the public that efforts are underway to track down and prosecute those responsible.
