 Trial begins of Central African ex-president Bozize over war crimes A UN-backed court in the the Central African Republic will on Tuesday begin the trial in absentia of former president Francois Bozize, over crimes against humanity committed between 2009 and 2013. The alleged crimes committed by members of Bozize's security forces include murder, enforced disappearance, torture and rape. Bozize, 79, who seized power in a 2003 coup before being overthrown 10 years later by rebels, has been living in exile in Guinea-Bissau since March 2023. But three of his former senior military officers, Eugene Barret Ngaikosset, Vianney Semndiro and Firmin Junior Danboy, are all in pre-trial detention in the Central African Republic.  POST ANSEC BRIEFING OF THE 24TH ANAMBRA STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON THE 5TH OF AUGUST, 2024 AT THE ANSEC CHAMBER, GOVERNMENT HOUSE, AWKA


Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) at its 24th meeting of Monday, the 5th of August, has approved the following contracts and projects for execution:


- The erosion control project at Awgbu community in Orumba North LGA by Anambra State Erosion, Watershed and Climate Change at the sum of N96,596,804.96 (Ninety six million, five hundred and ninety six thousand eight hundred and four naira, ninety six kobo).


- Construction of a Specialist hospital at Fegge, Onitsha South Local Government Area at the sum N679,898,015.26 (Six hundred and seventy nine million, eight hundred and ninety eight thousand, fifteen naira, twenty six kobo).


- Supply of Heavy Duty Trucks and equipment to OCHA Brigade to enable them do their job more effectively. The items will cost the sum of N191,285,500 (One hundred  and ninety one million, two hundred and eighty five thousand, five hundred naira).


- Supply and installation of machines and equipment to retool Anambra State Hydroform and Concrete Agency at the sum of N472,991,789.26 (Four hundred and seventy two million, nine hundred and ninety one thousand, seven hundred and eighty nine naira, twenty six kobo).


- In a bid to transform Anambra State into the digital capital of the country and a veritable destination for technology giants, ANSEC approved that Solution Innovation District (SID) should raise "One Million Tribe" of young tech experts in the State.


- To give wealthy Ndi Anambra in Diaspora and within the country the opportunity to participate in the development of their Communities, Council also approved the creation of a Public Community Private Partnership (PCPP) platform that could avail them, real time, the state of their Communities and how they can intervene.
