 Trial begins of Central African ex-president Bozize over war crimes A UN-backed court in the the Central African Republic will on Tuesday begin the trial in absentia of former president Francois Bozize, over crimes against humanity committed between 2009 and 2013. The alleged crimes committed by members of Bozize's security forces include murder, enforced disappearance, torture and rape. Bozize, 79, who seized power in a 2003 coup before being overthrown 10 years later by rebels, has been living in exile in Guinea-Bissau since March 2023. But three of his former senior military officers, Eugene Barret Ngaikosset, Vianney Semndiro and Firmin Junior Danboy, are all in pre-trial detention in the Central African Republic. Crimes against humanity The case will be heard by the Special Criminal Court (SCC), a hybrid jurisdiction located in the capital Bangui with Central African and foreign judges.  ELEVATING YOUTH LEADERSHIP THROUGH THE ONE-DAY GOVERNOR  INITIATIVE

The Lagos State Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA) played a pivotal role in the successful organization of the 20th edition of the One-Day Governor Programme, a flagship initiative that nurtures young leaders through academic excellence. Emerging from the Spelling Bee Competition, this initiative provides students with firsthand governance experience, equipping them with leadership skills and exposing them to policy making and Public Service at the highest level. The 2024 edition celebrated Master AbdulAzeez Abdulrahman of Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu, as the One-Day Governor of Lagos State, on October 28, 2024. Alongside his fellow winners, he engaged in high-profile activities, including a pre-celebration dinner hosted by the First Lady, Dr. (Mrs.) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, and official engagements with the Lagos State Executive Council.This initiative remains a testament to Lagos State’s dedication to education, leadership development, and the future of its students.
