AGAIN: EARLY MORNING INFERNO GUTS 50 SHOPS IN KANO MARKET

A devastating fire swept through the Fatima Simra Multi-Purpose Market in Kano in the early hours of Friday, destroying no fewer than 50 shops and rekindling concerns over recurring market fires in the state.

The blaze, which reportedly started around 5:40 a.m., tore through the busy commercial hub before emergency responders could fully contain it.

Chairman of the market’s fire committee, Dauda Haruna Chula, confirmed the incident, noting that traders were caught off guard as flames engulfed several stalls.

The cause of the fire is yet to be officially determined, but the incident has once again sparked fresh calls for improved fire safety measures across major markets in Kano.
