POLICE NAB 8 AS JOINT SECURITY FORCES INTENSIFY BUSH-COMBING IN KOGI

6th February, 2026

The Kogi State Police Command, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, local hunters and vigilante groups, has arrested eight suspects during sustained bush-combing operations across parts of the state.

The Police said the coordinated operation is part of ongoing intelligence-led security measures aimed at denying criminal elements safe haven within Kogi State.

According to the Command, security operatives extensively combed forested and remote areas identified as possible hideouts for criminals, deploying both ground patrols and aerial surveillance to monitor movements and track suspected bandit camps.

Several criminal hideouts were reportedly uncovered and neutralised during the exercise, forcing suspected criminals to flee the affected areas and abandon their camps.

Police sources disclosed that eight suspects were arrested at different locations and are currently in custody for interrogation. Preliminary investigations indicate that some of the suspects may be informants aiding kidnapping syndicates operating within the state.

Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing and assured that appropriate legal action would be taken upon their conclusion.

The Police noted that the affected areas have remained calm following the operation, with security presence sustained to reassure residents and prevent any breach of peace.

Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, the Kogi State Police Command said joint security operations across the state would continue as part of a broader strategy to dismantle criminal networks.

The Command attributed the successes recorded to intelligence-driven policing, modern surveillance support and effective inter-agency collaboration under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, psc, mni.

The Commissioner urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through the Police emergency lines: 07038329084 and 08152195982.
