Riley Ferrer lost control of his pickup truck while driving on I-75 on June 19th. He struck a vehicle that was stopped on the side of the roadway, causing his truck to flip into a nearby patch of trees.
Deputies with Hernando County Sheriff's Office quickly arrived on the scene and discovered two individuals inside of the vehicle Riley had struck, were both suffering from very serious injuries.
Deputies shut down the northbound lane and arranged for a medical helicopter to transport the victims.
Riley had been exhibiting bizarre behavior while being questioned. He reportedly told investigators that he had crashed his truck after "seeing the anti-christ".
However, his next actions would go beyond strange to outright dangerous. While medics were attending to the victims in the car and prepping them for transport, Riley made a mad dash for the helicopter.
Riley managed to make it to the helicopter and open the pilots door before deputies could intervene. Thankfully, deputies were able to subdue him before he was able to gain entry.
Riley resisted officers as they escorted him to a nearby hospital for medical clearance. Once at the hospital, Riley repeatedly tried to leave.
Riley Ferrer was ultimately medically cleared and charged with one count of burglary of an unoccupied conveyance and three counts of resisting arrest.
