 NDC Exempts Obi, Kwankwaso From Anti-Defection Oath Policy The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has exempted its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, from its newly introduced anti-defection oath, which is aimed at discouraging elected officials from leaving the party after winning elections. The party’s National Secretary, Ikenna Enekweizu, disclosed this on Wednesday during an appearance on a television, where he defended the policy amid criticism that it may violate constitutional provisions. At the quarterly meeting in Abuja, both parties focused on enhancing trade facilitation, strengthening security, and fostering stronger economic ties between Nigeria and the United States. The Comptroller-general of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, announced plans to institutionalise the engagement as a permanent feature of the Customs calendar, underscoring the value of regular stakeholder consultations.  Amnesty International Condemns Deadly Attack On Southern Kaduna Community Amnesty International has condemned the deadly attack carried out by gunmen on the Irigwe community of Angwan Magaji in Kamaru Ward, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, which left nine people dead and 11 others injured. The attack, which occurred late on the night of June 16, also claimed the lives of two young children aged five and four years.  According to Amnesty International, several victims were killed in their homes, while search efforts are still ongoing for residents reported missing after the incident. Describing the attack as one of the deadliest recent incidents in Southern Kaduna, Amnesty International expressed deep concern over the continued insecurity in the region, where communities have faced recurrent killings, abductions, and violent attacks.
