Abia APC Denies Imposing Non-Member as Governorship Candidate, Declares Primary Transparent The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has firmly rejected allegations that it allowed a non-member of the party to emerge as winner of its governorship primary election. The party’s reaction came on Monday following threats by some top members, including Mezie Chiekwe Esiaga and Ndubuisi Eme, who last week warned that the APC would face a major defeat in the 2027 governorship election if the ticket was not handed to former Minister of State for Science and Technology, Henry Ikoh. Addressing journalists at the party’s secretariat in Umuahia, Abia APC Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, described the primary election won by Eric Opah as transparent and free from manipulation. Aguoru dismissed claims that the party imposed a non-member as its candidate, insisting that Opah has been a committed and grounded member of the APC long before the primary exercise. “Opah was not smugg...

The claims were made by Abdulkadir Musa Giza, who identified himself as chairman of the North-West Stakeholders Forum of the PRP. Giza had alleged that Kwankwaso had taken over the party's structure. However, PRP National Secretary, Alhaji Musa Maigari, described the allegations as false and misleading while speaking to journalists on Monday. “Kwankwaso neither purchased any nomination forms nor has any official connection with the party,” Maigari stated. He emphasised that the party’s internal processes are complete, saying: “As it stands, all positions in PRP have been filled. Primary elections are over, and every political party has concluded its primaries....
