Emma Watson Joins Prince William, Benedict Cumberbatch At United For Wildlife Climate Forum In London
Emma Watson appeared alongside Prince William, Benedict Cumberbatch and host June Sarpong at a business forum organised under The Royal Foundation’s United for Wildlife initiative during London Climate Action Week.
The event brought together participants to discuss climate leadership and the protection of the natural world. According to United for Wildlife, the session focused on “a conversation about the natural world and our shared responsibility to protect it.”
Speaking during the forum, Watson addressed the role of communication in environmental advocacy.
“Storytelling is really powerful, and the story that you tell as a brand, and the transparency you have and the way that you talk around these issues, it matters,” she said. “It matters to young people,” she added.
Watson has previously supported the Prince of Wales’ Earthshot Prize, including presenting the Fix Our Climate award at the inaugural ceremony in London in 2021.
The Earthshot Prize, which runs over a decade, awards winners across five categories with funding to support environmental solutions, according to its organisers.
During the discussion, Watson also shared a personal recollection from her time living in the countryside, describing a misunderstanding involving photographers and wildlife.
“I saw all these men outside with very long lenses and I thought, ‘Today’s the day. It’s happened,’” she said.
She explained that the group was not photographing her, but was instead focused on a rare bird known as the red kite.
“They were there for a very rare bird… and they were trying to, basically, break into my back garden because they thought that one of these red kites was in our backyard,” she said.
Watson, known for her role in the Harry Potter film series, has continued to engage in advocacy work, including her appointment as a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador in 2014 and her involvement in the HeForShe campaign promoting gender equality.
