PAKISTAN SAYS 29 MILITANTS KILLED IN CROSS-BORDER STRIKES NEAR AFGHANISTAN BORDER. (PHOTO).
First responders were called to a truly heartbreaking incident at approximately 11:20 a.m. in Powder Springs, Tennessee.
Powder Springs was hammered with heavy rains this morning of Sunday, June 28th. This caused the ditches to run full and the drainage systems to become overwhelmed with the high volume of water.
These raging waters set the scene for one Grainger County mother to risk it all when she saw her son's life in peril.
Brave 39-year-old, Mary Evelyn Nicole Manning-Kellione, was outside near Round Bridge Road with her young son. Mary saw her beloved son being swept into a culvert by the raging waters. The circumstances that led to her son entering the culvert are not certain.
What is certain is how this loving mother responded. Without a second thought for her own safety, Mary went headlong into the water after her son.
In a heartbreaking twist of fate, the young boy was swept right through the culvert and emerged safely on the opposite side. Mary would not be so fortunate.
After exiting the water, the young boy realized his mother had entered the water and had not emerged.
Multiple agencies would arrive on the scene and attempt to rescue Mary. Eventually, Rescue personnel found Mary lodged deep inside of the culvert.
Mary is the tragic and perfect example of the absolute superhuman lengths a mother will go to for her children. Unfortunately, this young boy will have to continue on without that selfless love.
I hope he knows that was the ultimate example of her love for her child. Mary Evelyn Nicole Manning-Kellione was a real life super mom.
Our thoughts are with her family as they deal with this terrible loss.
Please be safe in flood water.
