The decisive measure, announced on Friday, is a direct response to escalating insecurity, particularly following the recent abductions of school children and teachers. Governor Makinde emphasized that the state government remains relentless in its efforts to secure the safe return of all kidnapped victims. ALABAMA SIBLINGS LOST THEIR LIVES AFTER THEY SLIPPED BELOW THE SURFACE OF TURKEY CREEK. (PHOTO).

 Alabama siblings lost their lives after they slipped below the surface of Turkey Creek. 

The older brother used what little energy he had left to push his sister towards the creek bank. This last ditch effort was his final voluntary action before going under.   


How this tragedy happened remains a mystery. 


Lolisa Hood had plans for an enjoyable weekend with her four children. The family group had kicked it off by heading to a popular swimming spot, Turkey Creek in Pison, Alabama, on Saturday, May 31st. 


Both 12-year-old King Gotti Scott and his 10-year-old sister Lola Marie Scott were good swimmers, according to Lolisa. She stated that she even took the extra step of having her children read the rules that were posted. 


Both King and Lola were near the bank with Lolisa close by. She said they were having a blast when suddenly everything changed. 


Lolisa said the waters were extremely calm with no current, and they were very close to the bank. She cannot understand what happened. Lolisa says out of nowhere, both children suddenly went underwater. 


Lolisa described it like "something was pulling them back." She added that King's last action before slipping under was to attempt to push his little sister towards the bank.


First responders quickly arrived on the scene, and a full-scale search was underway a little after 4 p.m.


Ultimately, firefighters, deputies, and citizens all participated in the search. Both children were recovered and rushed to UAB Hospital, where they were pronounced deceased. 


The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating the drowning. 


Both children attended Tarrant City Schools.  The school has made counselors available for students and staff alike as they deal with the sudden loss of two young and vital lives.
