Babcock University Debunks Carter Efe's 'First Class' Certificate Claim, Issues Strong Warning

A recent social media buzz surrounding popular Nigerian content creator and skit maker, Carter Efe, has taken an unexpected turn as Babcock University steps forward to debunk claims of his alleged first-class academic achievement.

The entertainer had recently posted what appeared to be an academic certificate online, suggesting he had graduated from the prestigious institution with a "First Class Upper" degree in Biochemistry. This claim quickly garnered attention across various platforms, prompting the university to issue a definitive statement.

Babcock University Sets the Record Straight

In a swift and unequivocal statement released on Monday, June 29, Babcock University firmly declared that the certificate circulating on social media, attributed to Carter Efe, was not issued by the institution. The university’s management highlighted several glaring inconsistencies that immediately flagged the document as fraudulent.

According to the school, the document in question, titled "Honorary Certificate" and purportedly issued by a "Babcock University Biochemistry Computer Club," does not align with its established academic protocols. Babcock clarified that it does not confer honorary certificates to acknowledge undergraduate academic performance.

Key Discrepancies Unveiled

The university further elaborated on the specific anomalies found on the alleged certificate:

    • Non-existent Club Certificate: Babcock stated unequivocally that no "Babcock University Biochemistry Computer Club" exists within its official academic framework, let alone issues academic recognition.

    • Incorrect Classification Terminology: The phrase "First Class Upper" used on the certificate is not a recognized academic classification at Babcock University. The correct and official designation for its highest academic honour is "First Class Honours."

    • Official Verification Channels: Academic excellence at Babcock is exclusively recognized through official degree certificates and transcripts, which are strictly issued by the Office of the Registrar. Any document not originating from this office is deemed unofficial and invalid.

A Strong Warning Against Academic Fraud

Beyond addressing the immediate claim, Babcock University utilized the opportunity to issue a stern warning to the public against relying on, producing, or circulating unauthorized academic documents. The institution emphasized the critical importance of verifying all academic credentials directly through its Office of the Registrar before accepting them for any official purposes, be it employment, professional body registration, or government agency processing.

The university underscored the severe legal ramifications associated with academic forgery. It stated that individuals found producing, circulating, or using forged academic documents could face rigorous investigation and and prosecution under relevant Nigerian laws pertaining to forgery and fraud. Furthermore, Babcock warned of potential legal action against any individuals or organizations unlawfully leveraging the institution's esteemed name, logo, seal, or academic credentials for deceptive purposes.

This incident serves as a crucial reminder for the public and prospective employers alike to exercise diligence in verifying academic claims, ensuring the integrity of educational qualifications and safeguarding against misrepresentation.
