John Mahama carried out an aerial assessment of flood-hit communities across Accra after torrential rainfall caused widespread flooding in the capital. On Monday, June 29, the Ghanaian president flew over the affected areas alongside government officials and members of the Anti-Flood Task Force to evaluate the extent of the destruction. During the inspection, they identified major engineering and environmental issues contributing to the flooding. Watch video below.

The committee is expected to work closely with UBEC, state governments and other relevant stakeholders to assess project implementation, monitor compliance and provide periodic reports.

 FRSC AND NITT FORGE ALLIANCE TO REDEFINE TRANSPORT TRAINING The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), Zaria, have signed a  Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Advanced Training, Capacity Development, Research and Unnovation.  In a statement by the Corps Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri, The agreement, executed by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, and the Director General of NITT, Dr. Bayero Farah, is said to mark the beginning of a transformative partnership designed to raise professional standards, strengthen institutional capacity and position Nigeria's transport sector on the global stage.  Inmates seize North Carolina jail before law enforcement regains control after hours-long standoff A prison takeover at the Bertie-Martin Regional Detention Center in eastern North Carolina ended Monday after law enforcement officers regained control of the facility following an hours-long standoff.  Court grants Omoyele Sowore ₦200m bail In alleged cybercrime case Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja has granted a ₦200 million bail to the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) and publisher, Omoyele Sowore, who is facing alleged cybercrime charges. In a ruling on Tuesday, Justice Umar ordered Sowore to produce two sureties. One of the sureties must be a traditional ruler from Sowore’s community, while the other must own landed property in Abuja. The court also directed that the sureties be verified by the prosecution. In addition, Justice Umar ordered Sowore to deposit his international passport with the Deputy Chief Registrar of the court pending the determination of the case. The new Practice Directions, issued by the Chief Judge of the Court, Justice John Tsoho, now in force, are aimed at ensuring the fair, impartial, and expeditious determination of pre-election matters in all divisions of the court nationwide. The Practice Directions are expected to minimise the time spent dealing with interlocutory matters, while also encouraging the amicable settlement of issues before adjudication commences.
