The Bishop on the Niger and Dean of All Saints’ Cathedral, Onitsha, Rt. Rev. Owen Chiedozie Nwokolo (JP, FITH-PUA), on July 5 ordained 30 new priests during a solemn service at All Saints’ Cathedral, Onitsha.
Speaking during the retreat preceding the ordination, Ven. Emmanuel Ezeugo urged the newly ordained priests to remain steadfast in their divine calling by relying completely on God's grace and resisting the works of the flesh, principalities, and every form of darkness.
He stressed that the christian ministry demands unwavering faith, spiritual discipline, and total dependence on God.
"As deacons ordained into the priesthood today, you need God's grace to remain in Christ because the flesh will always seek to prevail. Let God be your daily guide," he said.
Ven. Ezeugo further charged the priests to preach the gospel faithfully in season and out of season, uphold the shield of faith against the forces of darkness, and continually put on the whole armour of God as faithful soldiers of Christ.
He also encouraged members of the congregation to remain steadfast in prayer and diligent in studying the Holy Scriptures, describing God's Word as a guide for Christian living and spiritual growth.
In his charge, Bishop Nwokolo prayed for God's abundant grace upon the newly ordained priests, asking that they would remain faithful, fruitful, and steadfast in their ministry.
He also invoked God's blessings upon the congregation, praying that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit would continue to guide, protect, and strengthen all believers in their walk of faith.
