 BAUCHI STATE POLICE COMMAND PRESS RELEASE The Editors,  BREAKTHROUGH: VCRU, AKU, AND OTHERS RESCUE 2 KIDNAP VICTIMS UNHURT DURING JOINT OPERATION IN NINGI LGA In furtherance of the mandate of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc (+), has directed the tactical unit to relocate to areas with recent cases of kidnapping and ensure the safe rescue of victims and the arrest of suspects. In compliance with the CP's directive, operatives of the Command have successfully rescued two kidnap victims during a joint security operation conducted in Gwamnare Forest, Ningi LGA.  Ngige’s Alleged N2.2b Fraud: Court to Rule on Admissibility of Defence Documents October14   The trial of a former Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige continued on Thursday, July 2, 2026, before Justice M.A. Hassan of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT,  High Court, Gwarimpa, Abuja, with the cross-examination of the Third Prosecution Witness, PW3, Onwusoro Maduka Iheamelam by defence counsel, P.I.N. Ikwueto, SAN. The court deferred ruling on the admissibility of defence team’s documents till October 14 and November 11 and 12, 2026.  Somalia peacekeeping mission at risk as US blocks UN support, sources say The United ​States has said it will prevent the United Nations from supporting an African Union peacekeeping mission in Somalia starting next year, two documents ‌showed, in a move that officials said is likely to end its operations. The nearly 12,000-strong AU mission props up the fragile government in Mogadishu, helping it push back al Qaeda-linked al-Shabaab militants, whose previous offensives have brought them within striking distance of the capital and who control large swaths of the countryside in southern and central Somalia.
