Kathie Lee Gifford talks about 50-year friendship with Kris Jenner after meeting at Bible study

Kathie Lee Gifford is reflecting on her decades-long friendship with Kris Jenner and her surprising role in helping launch Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The former morning-show host recalls meeting Jenner in their early 20s at a Bible study and remaining close ever since.

In the early 2000s, when Gifford was offered a reality show about her own family, she declined but suggested producers focus on Jenner’s household instead, noting the constant stream of celebrities at her home.

That advice eventually led to the creation of the hit E! series, which ran for 14 years before transitioning to Hulu as The Kardashians.

Their bond has come full circle, with Jenner recently serving as executive producer on Gifford’s upcoming documentary. In the film, Gifford candidly revisits both her triumphs and struggles, including the sweatshop labor scandal tied to her Walmart clothing line in 1996.

She recalls testifying before Congress and working with President Bill Clinton on labor reforms, determined to turn the controversy into meaningful change.

The documentary also touches on personal challenges, such as her late husband Frank Gifford’s public infidelity, which the couple ultimately overcame.

Beyond hardships, the documentary highlights Gifford’s career milestones, from her early break on Name That Tune to co-hosting Live! With Regis and Kathie Lee and Today.

She credits her lifelong work ethic to lessons from her father and says authenticity has been her guiding principle, never separating her faith from her public persona.

As for her legacy, Gifford hopes to be remembered not for fame or achievements but as someone who was kind and brought joy to others.
