 ANAMBRA POLICE COMMAND RECEIVES AND AUGMENTS IGP’S MONITORING UNIT OPERATIVES ON ENFORCEMENT OF POLICE PERSONNEL WITHDRAWAL FROM VIP ESCORT DUTIES IN THE STATE The Anambra State Police Command today 8th December 2025 formally received operatives of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP)’s Monitoring Unit deployed to the state to ensure full implementation of the IGP’s directive on the withdrawal of police personnel from VIP escort and guard duties. The Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc mnips PhD reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to supporting the IGP’s reform efforts targeted at enhancing professionalism, discipline, and optimal deployment of police manpower nationwide. The CP noted that the withdrawal of these officers will help to strengthen public policing, improve response capacity, and ensure that more personnel are available for core policing duties across the state.  Jigawa Government Reveals N5bn Loss in August 2024 Protests


The Jigawa State Government has reported a total loss of N5 billion in property damages during the nationwide protests of August 2024.


Bello Fanini, Chairman of the fact-finding committee on the protests, disclosed the figures while presenting the committee’s findings to Governor Umar Namadi at the Government House in Dutse.


Fanini detailed the breakdown of the losses, explaining that the Jigawa State Government incurred N2.8 billion in damages, while the Federal Government and its agencies lost N1.07 billion. Private individuals and businesses suffered losses of N707 million, local governments faced damages totaling N364 million, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) experienced losses of over N49 million.


The committee also made recommendations, including the need for the state government to compensate those who lost properties during the protests.


Governor Namadi thanked the committee for its efforts and assured that the government would carefully review the report and implement the suggested measures.


Recall that Governor Namadi had set up the fact-finding committee to investigate the causes of the August 1, 2024, protests in Jigawa State.
