The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. HAJJ, RAMADAN UMRAH, URGES EARLY REGISTRATION The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced the sale of application forms for intending pilgrims for the 2027/1448 A.H. Hajj and Ramadan Umrah exercises in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Board Secretary, Mr. Abdul-Hakeem Ajomagberin disclosed this in a statement on Monday. He urged intending pilgrims to register early and commence payment of fares in line with the timetable released by Saudi Arabian authorities and the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON). According to Ajomagberin, the Hajj application form costs ₦20,000 while the Umrah form costs ₦10,000. Both are payable at the Accounts Department of the Board.  Bandits Kidnap 17 Residents In Fresh Southern Kaduna Attacks Armed bandits have reportedly abducted at least 17 residents and injured one person during a fresh wave of attacks on communities in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, according to SaharaReporters.  The incidents occurred between Saturday and the early hours of Monday, according to residents who spoke about the attacks. The latest assault took place on Monday morning in Hanya Maro, where gunmen reportedly attacked farmers working on their farmlands and kidnapped six people.  DEFENCE MINISTRY CLARIFIES ALLOWANCE PAYMENTS TO HOUSE OFFICERS, INTERNS The Ministry of Defence has dismissed reports alleging non-payment of allowances to House Officers and Interns in Armed Forces Reference Hospitals. Permanent Secretary Richard Pheelangwah describes the claims as false and misleading, noting that payment of outstanding allowances is already underway. He added that efforts are continuing to settle the remaining arrears as additional funds are released. According to the Permanent Secretary, the delay stems from the absence of a budgetary provision for the allowances since January 2026, and not from any administrative failure by the Ministry.

 Resident Raises Alarm Over Bandit Attack On Kaduna–Kafanchan Highway A bandit attack was reported on the Kaduna–Kafanchan highway on Monday, leaving motorists temporarily stranded as security agencies responded to the situation. According to Gunner James, who was travelling along the route at the time of the incident, the attack was ongoing when he filed his report.  He said military personnel quickly intervened, while travellers were directed to stop at the security checkpoint between Idon and Makyali until the road could be secured. Gunner James further disclosed that the stranded motorists were later escorted by a police bank van heading towards Kafanchan to ensure their safe passage. Watch video below.

 Morocco arrests dissident journalist Ali Lmrabet Moroccan police arrested dissident commentator Ali Lmrabet for questioning ​upon his arrival at Tangier ‌airport on Sunday, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) said on Monday. Lmrabet is under investigation ​for "alleged dissemination of false information ​harming constitutional institutions", according to the ⁠organisation that provides assistance to ​journalists at risk. Lmrabet, who also holds French ​nationality and lives in Spain, ​has used social media as a political commentator ‌and ⁠has been an outspoken critic of Morocco's political system. An informed source said Lmrabet is facing a ​preliminary investigation ​over ⁠complaints filed by individuals and institutions in Morocco alleging ​slander and defamation, Reuters reported. In 2003, Lmrabet ​was ⁠jailed after being convicted on charges that included offending the king. ⁠In ​2005, a Moroccan ​court banned him from practicing journalism in Morocco ​for 10 years.

 Congo's Ebola outbreak spreads to two more provinces The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo has spread to two more ​northeastern provinces, Haut-Uele and Tshopo, the country's public health institute ‌said in its latest report, Reuters reported. The number of confirmed Ebola cases across the country rose to 1,926, including 702 deaths, official data showed late on Sunday. Four cases ​were recorded in Tshopo, including two deaths, with one death ​confirmed in Haut-Uele, as of Saturday. The latest Ebola outbreak, Congo's ⁠17th, was declared on May 15 and has been largely concentrated in ​Ituri province, with cases also reported in North Kivu and South Kivu ​provinces. The often fatal viral disease spreads through direct contact with bodily fluids from infected people or animals and causes symptoms that can include high fever, vomiting and ​internal and external bleeding.

 ICPC Arraigns  Uche Nnaji Over Alleged Certificate Forgery The former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji has been arraigned in court over alleged certificate forgery and misappropriation of funds. Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission  arraigned  Uche NNAJI before the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on a six - count charge. Counts three, four,  five and six specifically relate to the alleged certificate forgery, while  counts one and two relate to the alleged misappropriation of funds. Uche Nnaji as the defendant in this matter pleaded not guilty to all the counts.                                      ICPC says the arrangement followed months of investigation into allegations that the former minister forged academic credentials and made false declarations.

 FG Suspends Proposed Increase Of WAEC/ NECO Examination Registration Fees                                 Federal Government has suspended the proposed review of registration fees for the 2027 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and the National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE). Federal Ministry of Education says the fee adjustment proposal contained in its 18 June 2026 letter has been withdrawn pending broader stakeholder consultations. The Ministry explains that the proposed increase was driven by rising costs associated with conducting credible national examinations. However, the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, directs that the proposal be placed on hold in line with the Federal Government’s commitment to inclusive, transparent and evidence-based policymaking.  PDP Announces Successful Upload Of Presidential Candidates To INEC Portal The Peoples Democratic Party has announced the successful upload of the names of its presidential candidate, running mate and National Assembly candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission Candidate Nomination Portal. The party’s National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, in a statement issued in Abuja described the development as another milestone in its preparations for the 2027 general elections. It added that the successful upload demonstrates the PDP’s commitment to ensuring its full participation in the 2027 polls. The statement further noted that the party is awaiting the completion of the upload of the names of its governorship and State Houses of Assembly candidates to the INEC portal.

The deceased and Miss Anita Baski are said to be employees of  David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences (DUFUS), Uburu and had been on secondment to the Federal Ministry of Works, Abuja, as physiotherapists for the past three years until the  death of Habila. Two Nigerian nationals arrested in Ghana for killing compatriot following dispute over internet fraud proceeds Two Nigerian nationals have been arrested in connection with the murder of a fellow Nigerian, Nkemujika Uzochukwu Eze, in Sanzirigu, a suburb of Tamale, Ghana.  In a statement issued on Sunday, July 12, 2026, the Northern Regional Police Command said the suspects identified as Daniel Victor Eze and David Oko Ewa, allegedly admitted during interrogation that they conspired to k!ll the deceased following a dispute over proceeds from alleged internet fraud activities. According to the statement, the suspects were arrested at Tamale on the Ghana-Togo border following intelligence-led operations after the body of 36-year-old Eze was discovered in his bedroom on Saturday, July 11, 2026. According to the police, officers who responded to the scene found the deceased with a deep cut wound to the forehead and a towel stuffed into his mouth. The bedroom had also been ransacked....

 Nigeria meets 104% of OPEC Quota as Production Soars .Crude oil production rises to 74-month high Nigeria’s crude oil and condensate production soared to an average of 1,735,398 barrels per day in the month of June 2026, representing positive growth for a 4th consecutive month. In the month under review, crude oil production hit 1.56mbpd while 0.18mbpd of condensates was produced. This means Nigeria met 104% of the 1.5mbpd crude oil production quota set by the Organisation and Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). In strict crude oil terms (excluding condensates), the 1.56 million daily average production Nigeria witnessed in June is the highest that Africa’s biggest oil producer has recorded since April 2020, thus representing a 74-month high. In June, the peak combined crude oil and condensate production was 1.89mbpd, reflecting Nigeria’s potential to reach 2mbpd in the near term. Apparently, I forgot that I was appealing for support from people who would first see my trib€ before seeing my humanity. Apparently, I also forgot that I am an Igbo man. The appeal I made purely out of compassion has been met with accusãtions that Igbõs cannot be trusted, that we are sc@mmers, and with many other !nsults that are too unpl€asant to repeat here. When I raised awareness while those children were still in the kednappers' den, I did not see them as Yoruba children. I simply saw them as innocent Nigerian children who needed help. I never imagined that my tribe would become the focus instead of their suffering and my intention to help. Sãdly, my appeal has awakened d€€p tribal sentiments that have overshadõwed the very reason for the fundraiser.  A naked man was arrested after trying to snatch a 7-year-old girl from her mother at a Portland, Oregon waterpark. 31-year-old Daniel Vasey was arrested on the evening of July 11th after a series of 911 calls about a fully unclothed man took a darker turn. Initial calls regarding Vasey's behavior began pouring in a little before 7 p.m. on Saturday evening. One caller reported that a naked man had tried to punch him. All calls were made from near the McCall Waterfront Park in Portland.  Then, a few minutes after 7 p.m., a call came in stating that the unclothed man had just tried to pull a young girl from her mother. According to witnesses, Vasey was attacked by both parents and several bystanders, causing him to release the girl and flee the scene.
