Emmy-winning host Jon Stewart will continue as the face of “The Daily Show” through December 2026, Paramount confirmed Monday. The announcement extends Stewart’s contract, keeping him on Comedy Central’s satirical late-night program on Mondays while he also serves as an executive producer.
Ari Pearce, head of Comedy Central, called the renewal “a win for audiences, for Comedy Central and for all our programming partners,” praising Stewart and the show’s news team. The deal settles lingering questions about the show’s future following Paramount’s merger with Skydance.
Stewart, 62, returned to the show in early 2024 after leaving in 2015, initially hosting just one day a week. In recent interviews, he expressed a strong desire to remain on the show, acknowledging tensions with the newly merged media company but emphasizing his commitment to stay engaged.
He has been openly critical of Paramount Skydance’s decision to cancel CBS’s “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” citing financial motives, but has committed to continuing “The Daily Show.” Stewart originally hosted the program from 1999 to 2015, earning acclaim for his incisive political satire and interviews with key figures in news and culture.
