 LAGOS UNVEILS NATIONAL INTERMEDIATE GAMES’ MASCOT IN READINESS FOR HOSTING COMPETITION  In demonstration of Lagos State’s readiness to host the maiden edition of the National Intermediate Games coming up later in the year, the Lagos State Sports Commission unveiled the Games’ mascot and logo in Ikeja at a brief ceremony. The unveiling, which marked the commencement of activities for the Games, was attended by top state government dignitaries, sports administrators, and enthusiasts from across the length and breadth of the country.  Yobe State Governor Buni  Approves Implementation Of FGN/ASUU 2025  Agreement / Payment Of Arrears


Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has approved the implementation of the 2025 Federal Government/Academic Staff Union of Universities (FGN/ASUU) Agreement, with payment of arrears for Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance (CATA), Professorial Allowance, and Earned Academic Allowance (EAA).


A statement by the Director Press and  Media Affairs Mamma Mohammed says

Gov. Buni's approval of payment for the allowances followed the report on review of welfare and remuneration of academic staff by the state Fact-Finding Committee which was earlier presented to the Acting Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Mohammed Goje.


The committee visited some selected state-owned universities across Nigeria to investigate, compare and report what is obtained in other state Universities


The statement noted that Governor Buni directed payment of the approved allowances to commence with effect from August 2026, reaffirming his administration's  commitment to rewarding excellence, promoting industrial harmony, and sustaining quality higher education in Yobe State.


The approval covers Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance (CATA), Professorial Allowance, and Earned Academic Allowance (EAA), making Yobe State one of the leading states implementing the 2025 FGN/ASUU Agreement to enhance staff welfare and improve academic excellence.


The Yobe State University Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Muhammad Adam, expressed appreciation of the union to Governor Buni for exhibiting commitment to the welfare of its members and support quality education.


The chairman charged members of the union to reciprocate the gesture through dedication to duty to achieve excellence, industrial harmony, and research.
