14-year-old shot and killed by stray bullets while gaming at home

Du’wan Morgan, a 14-year-old high school freshman with a love for nature and fishing, was killed Wednesday evening while playing video games in his bedroom, struck by stray bullets fired outside his home. Known for his quiet demeanor and big dreams, Du’wan had just begun ninth grade and was described by family as smart, kind, and outdoorsy.

The shooting occurred around 6 p.m. on Hobkirk Drive in the Glasgow Village neighborhood of unincorporated north St. Louis County. Police say two groups of teenagers had been arguing outside when gunfire erupted. Du’wan, who was inside his home with his mother and two brothers, was an unintended target. He died at the scene; no one else was physically harmed, though the emotional toll on his family has been profound.

Family members remember Du’wan as a bright, sweet young man. “He was a beautiful, nice kid,” said his aunt, Erica Davis. “He had a bright future ahead of him.” His mother is reportedly struggling to cope, unable to eat or sleep in the wake of his death.

Neighbors reported seeing several teens fleeing the area after the shooting, some wearing masks, and police have not made any arrests. The investigation remains ongoing, with few answers for the grieving family.

“This is senseless,” Davis said. “No child should die like this.” She urged anyone with information about the shooting to come forward, even anonymously, in hopes of bringing justice for Du’wan. “My family will never be the same,” she added. “We want justice for my nephew. He didn’t deserve to lose his life like this.”
