 NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable.  Third Mainland Bridge set to fully reopen on April 4


The Lagos State Government has announced the imminent reopening of the Third Mainland Bridge on April 4, 2024, following extensive repair works.


The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, via his official social media account on Saturday.


In a statement addressing Lagos residents, Osiyemi expressed gratitude for their patience and cooperation throughout the repair period. He conveyed the government’s commitment to ensuring smoother travels ahead for commuters.


The statement read, “Dear Lagos residents, We’re pleased to share that the Third Mainland Bridge will resume full operations on April 4, 2024, following extensive repairs. We sincerely thank you for your patience and cooperation, and we look forward to even smoother travels ahead.”


The decision to partially close the Third Mainland Bridge for repairs was initially announced by the Lagos State Government on January 5, 2024. Subsequently, repair works commenced on January 9, leading to temporary inconveniences for commuters.


With the upcoming full reopening of the bridge, commuters can anticipate improved traffic flow and enhanced transportation efficiency across Lagos. The government’s commitment to infrastructure maintenance and development underscores its dedication to ensuring the safety and convenience of residents and visitors alike.


As the Third Mainland Bridge resumes full operation, stakeholders are encouraged to continue supporting efforts aimed at enhancing the overall transportation network in Lagos State.


This milestone marks a significant step forward in the ongoing efforts to optimize infrastructure and facilitate sustainable urban development in Nigeria’s commercial capital.
