 PRESS RELEASE NAF SUSTAINS HIGH-TEMPO AIR OPERATIONS, DESTROYS TERRORIST HIDEOUTS IN SOUTHERN TUMBUNS The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), through the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, sustained operational pressure on terrorist elements with a precision air interdiction mission conducted on 24 April 2026 at about 1850 hours over Ali Sheriffti, a known terrorist enclave in the Southern Tumbuns. Acting on credible intelligence of terrorist activity, NAF air assets conducted a focused surveillance sweep, during which several insurgents were sighted moving along concealed tracks. The targets were trailed to structures hidden under dense foliage, confirming deliberate attempts at concealment. Following positive identification, the NAF executed a precise strike, engaging the structures with onboard munitions.  Third Mainland Bridge set to fully reopen on April 4


The Lagos State Government has announced the imminent reopening of the Third Mainland Bridge on April 4, 2024, following extensive repair works.


The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, via his official social media account on Saturday.


In a statement addressing Lagos residents, Osiyemi expressed gratitude for their patience and cooperation throughout the repair period. He conveyed the government’s commitment to ensuring smoother travels ahead for commuters.


The statement read, “Dear Lagos residents, We’re pleased to share that the Third Mainland Bridge will resume full operations on April 4, 2024, following extensive repairs. We sincerely thank you for your patience and cooperation, and we look forward to even smoother travels ahead.”


The decision to partially close the Third Mainland Bridge for repairs was initially announced by the Lagos State Government on January 5, 2024. Subsequently, repair works commenced on January 9, leading to temporary inconveniences for commuters.


With the upcoming full reopening of the bridge, commuters can anticipate improved traffic flow and enhanced transportation efficiency across Lagos. The government’s commitment to infrastructure maintenance and development underscores its dedication to ensuring the safety and convenience of residents and visitors alike.


As the Third Mainland Bridge resumes full operation, stakeholders are encouraged to continue supporting efforts aimed at enhancing the overall transportation network in Lagos State.
