 Anambra LG Commissioner Warns Against Politicising Town Union Offices, Urges Focus on Development ‎By Chisom Okpala ‎ ‎The Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Barr. Vin Ezeaka, has cautioned individuals who perceive the positions of President-General and Town Union Executive as political offices to desist from such notions. He advised that these institutions should remain dedicated to community development and the collective interests of the people. ‎ ‎Barr. Ezeaka made this admonition on Friday, June 5, while receiving the Ugbenu Town Union Executive in his office at the Old Government House, Awka. REPS DIRECT NCC TO BLOCK PORNOGRAPHIC WEBSITES. (PHOTO).

In a move aimed at curbing the spread of obscene and pornographic content online, the House of Representatives has directed the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to block all websites hosting such material. The resolution, passed on Tuesday, was sponsored by Dalhatu Tafoki, an All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker from Katsina state.


Tafoki argued that cyber pornography has become a global problem, and Nigeria has not done enough to address it. He emphasized that Nigeria is a "highly religious country" where major faiths prohibit nudity and obscenity. The lawmaker also cited examples of countries across Asia, Africa, and the Middle East that have enacted laws banning pornography.


The motion was supported by lawmakers when subjected to a voice vote by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas. Consequently, the House directed the NCC to impose penalties on internet service providers that fail to comply with the directive.
