California former student stabs three staff, leaves two pipe bombs in attack: police
A former student at a California school allegedly stabbed three staff members and planted two pipe bombs before being arrested, authorities said.
The incident occurred Monday morning around 8:15 a.m. at the Switzer Learning Center in Torrance. Police said the suspect stabbed three staff members and attempted to stab a fourth before fleeing the scene. Two of the victims were taken to Harbor General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the third was treated on site by the Torrance Fire Department.
After the stabbing, the suspect was taken into custody and reportedly told police he had placed two pipe bombs near 208th Street and Amapola Avenue. Authorities located the devices, determined them to be incendiary, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad safely rendered them inoperable. Police later confirmed there was no ongoing threat to the public.
Officials have not released the suspect’s name, age, or a potential motive, and said the investigation remains ongoing. Torrance police emphasized that the safety of the community is their top priority and thanked residents and media for their cooperation during the response.
