  “Not all Kutis use narcotics” — Afrobeat singer Made Kuti addresses family misconception Afrobeat singer, Made Kuti, has dismissed the misconception that all members of the Kuti family use narcotics.  Speaking with TheCable on the sidelines of the United States mission’s 250th Independence Day celebration in Lagos, the singer said many people wrongly assume he and his relatives use drugs. “A lot of people think I smoke, but I don’t, and even my dad has quit. So, there is a big misconception that the family are all into narcotics, but most of us are not,” he said. When asked to describe himself in three words, Made chose “hardworking, loyal and passionate,” adding with a joke that “loyal” fits because “I’m a married man”. When asked which Nigerian artiste he currently listens to, Made named his grandfather.

 PRESIDENT TINUBU HONOURS FALLEN HEROES AT AFCRD 2026 AS COAS, SERVICE CHIEFS PAY SOLEMN TRIBUTE


President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on Thursday, 15 January 2026, led the nation in solemn remembrance of Nigeria’s fallen heroes during the Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day (AFCRD) 2026 at the National Cenotaph, Eagle Square, Abuja. The deeply reflective ceremony served as a moment of national gratitude for officers and men who laid down their lives in defence of the country’s peace, unity and sovereignty.


The President was represented at the occasion by the Vice President, His Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON who laid a wreath on behalf of the President in honour of the brave personnel who paid the supreme sacrifice in service to the nation.


The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, NAM joined the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, AFM other Service Chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police in laying wreaths to honour the courage, sacrifice and enduring legacy of Nigeria’s fallen heroes. The gesture highlights the relentless commitment of the Armed Forces and security agencies to uphold the values of patriotism, selflessness and loyalty to the fatherland.


The ceremony was attended by an array of dignitaries, including the President of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, Chief Justice of Nigeria, Honourable Justice Kudirat Motonmori Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun,  the Honourable Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd) OFR and other members of the Federal Executive Council, heads of security agencies, members of the diplomatic corps, senior officers, serving and retired, members of the Nigerian Legion and other distinguished guests. Together, they paid heartfelt tribute to the men and women whose sacrifices continue to inspire national resolve and collective remembrance.
