How Kaduna Residents Held Solidarity Rally For El-Rufai Amid Court Arraignment

Kaduna State residents staged a solidarity rally yesterday to show support for former Governor Nasir El-Rufai on the day he was arraigned in court.

The demonstrators marched through the streets before converging outside the Federal High Court, Kaduna, where El-Rufai faced charges of corruption brought by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

Chanting slogans such as “Free El-Rufai Now” and carrying placards with messages including “Justice Delayed is Justice Denied,” the crowd expressed frustration over what they described as the continued detention of El-Rufai by the APC-led government.

The protest drew participants across all age groups, with men and women visibly emotional, and some shedding tears. Community leaders and human rights activists addressed the crowd, condemning the detention and calling for the immediate release of the former governor.

Though peaceful, the rally was marked by a tense atmosphere, with security personnel deployed to maintain order.
