 Set designer Mary Kate Golding found dead in Queens home as police investigate possible murder-suicide Police are investigating the deaths of television set designer Mary Kate Golding and her husband after the 34-year-old was found fatally stabbed inside her Queens home. According to the New York Police Department, officers responded shortly after midnight on Tuesday, July 21, to a residence in Astoria, where they found Golding with a fatal stab wound to her back. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Several hours later, at about 6:39 a.m., officers responded to a separate 911 call reporting an unconscious person near Astoria Park South and Shore Boulevard. Police found an unresponsive man in the park, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. An NYPD source identified the man as Joseph Azzaretto, Golding's husband.  Hwang In-beom sparks South Korea's comeback over Czech Republic 2–1 in World Cup group stage clash

  

Hwang In-beom inspired a second-half comeback as South Korea defeated the Czech Republic 2–1 in their World Cup group stage match on Thursday night.

After a slow and uninspired opening 45 minutes that drew boos from the crowd, the Czech Republic struck first in the 59th minute when captain Ladislav Krejci headed home following a long throw-in into the penalty area.

South Korea responded in the 67th minute through Hwang, who beat two defenders with a clever feint before finishing to level the match. The midfielder then turned provider in the 80th minute, delivering a cross from the right wing that Oh Hyeon-gyu converted for the winning goal.

The match, played at Guadalajara Stadium, was marked by large sections of empty seating despite an announced attendance of 44,985. South Korea’s players celebrated the final whistle with supporters gathered behind the goal, later posing for photos in front of the fans.

South Korea coach Hong Myung-bo praised his team’s resilience, saying the victory reflected their refusal to give up after falling behind. He noted that the players stayed committed to their approach even when the match was level.

The win marked South Korea’s first opening World Cup victory since 2010 and continued a strong run against European opposition in recent tournaments.

Led by captain Son Heung-min, South Korea controlled possession for much of the match and created more chances than the 38th-ranked Czech side, though they struggled to finish early opportunities. Son, playing in his fourth World Cup, came close to adding to his tournament goal tally but missed a first-half chance wide and was denied from close range in the second half.

The Czech Republic briefly believed they had regained the lead in the 77th minute, but the goal was disallowed for offside.

Czech coach Miroslav Koubek acknowledged that South Korea were likely the better side overall, though he pointed to mistakes that cost his team a result they felt was within reach.

South Korea, making its 11th consecutive World Cup appearance, remains one of Asia’s most consistent teams on the global stage, with its best finish coming in 2002 when it reached fourth place.

In the other Group A match, co-host Mexico opened the tournament with a 2–0 win over South Africa in Mexico City.
