ABUJA HOUSEWIFE BURSTS INTO TEARS AS BARROW PUSHER ESCAPES WITH HER FOOD STUFFS A middle- aged woman, simply identified as Mrs Rebecca Gbaje, broke down in tears after a wheel barrow pusher disappeared with the food stuffs she bought at Kwaita village market in Kwali Area Council of the FCT.  Our reporter, who was at the market, observed as some customers and traders gathered to sympathize with the woman, while some sympathisers walked round the market in search of the barrow pusher.  The woman, while narrating to sympathisers who stood to console her amid tears, said she bought the food items that comprised of Mudus of rice, beans, maize and other ingredients and engaged the barrow pusher to help her take the items to the road side.  She said after the barrow pusher started moving to the road with the items, she stopped over to buy fish and asked him to wait for her.  ‘’After buying the fish, I turned back but could not see the barrow pusher again,” she said.  ...

NIN holders to pay N15,000 to correct date of birth, 5000 for name, address THE National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, yesterday, declared that correction of details in the National Identity Number, NIN, would attract varying charges. The NIMC Regional Coordinator in Alausa, Lagos, Funmi Opensanwo, who spoke on a Television Programme, Sunrise Daily, said the charges vary from correction of details like name, address, card renewal or replacement, and date of birth. Reacting to allegations that officials of NIMC have been demanding illegal fees from Nigerians to link their NIN to their sim cards, Opensanwo said: “The money we charge is for modification fee. “For the date of birth correction, the processing fee is N15, 000. For card renewal or card replacement, there is a processing fee of N5, 000. “For a modification of your name and address, there is a fee of N5,000.” Besides, she said the fees “are for services and (things) to be corrected. ISESE DAY 2023: LAGOS DECLARES MONDAY WORK FREE FOR STATE WORKERS To commemorate the year 2023 Isese Day, the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has declared Monday August 21st as Work Free Day for all Public Servants in the State. The Isese Day, has been set aside in Lagos to celebrate the indigenous Yoruba culture and traditions as well as the preservation of the Yoruba heritage. According to a circular issued by the Lagos State  Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, this Year’s Isese Day celebration will hold on Sunday, 20th August, 2023. He stated further that the declaration of Work Free Day by Governor Sanwo-Olu is reaffirmation of his “commitment to continue to provide necessary support to traditional institutions in the State with a view to promoting our indigenous culture and tradition while preserving our heritage”. The circular announced Tuesday, 22nd August at 8a.m. prompt as resumption of work for all State workers.
