 TROOPS STALL TERRORISTS'  MISSION TO ATTACK COMMUNITY, NAB SUSPECTED GUN RUNNERS IN ADAMAWA, SEIZE ARMS Troops of the Nigerian Army deployed for Counter terrorism operations in North East Nigeria, in conjunction with Civilian Joint Task Force, have successfully intercepted a group of terrorists on transit to unleash attack in Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State.  The troops on fighting patrol near Wuro Jabbe encountered the terrorists who were on a mission to attack the community. Troops engaged the terrorists in a fierce fire-fight that compelled them to succumb and abandon their firearms. The troops captured one  PKM Machine Gun, 402 rounds of 7.62 mm x 54 NATO ammunition and 110 rounds of 7.62 mm NATO.  Abducted editor resigns after newspaper apologises to Gbajabiamila Abducted editor, Segun Olatunji, has resigned from his position at FirstNews following an apology made by the management of the media house to the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila. Olatunji, who spent two weeks in detention after he was abducted by military men from his Lagos home on March 15, 2024, said he had chosen to resign as the General Editor of FirstNews for his safety and that of his family. It was learnt that the management of the newspaper apologised to Gbajabiamila over a recent news story published on its platform.  Panic as Oyo demolishes shop in popular Ibadan market Panic gripped residents and traders of the popular Ojoo market in the Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State as the government demolished scores of shops and kiosks in the area, on Thursday. The PUNCH gathered that the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development had served the traders quit notice a long time ago but they refused to move out of the market. The Chairman of the market,  Muhdeen Ganiyu, fondly called Elewedu, however, told our correspondent that the quit notice was too short but the executive members of all the affected markers would meet after the demolition exercise. “The quit notice was too short.  Prophet arrested for defiling minors in Kwara Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has nabbed a 45-year-old Prophet Olayinka Ajiboye, for allegedly defiling three minors. All the minors who fall within the age bracket of 13–17 years are residents of Agah Village, Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State. It was gathered that the suspect, who specializes in harassing and sexually assaulting minors, has been under the surveillance of the command following several complaints about his nefarious activities. He was arrested after a tip-off on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. Three members of the House of Assembly loyal to Governor Siminialayi Fubara declared themselves as the authentic House of Assembly members. They elected one of them, Victor Oko-Jumbo, representing Bonny Constituency, as Speaker. This follows the governor’s declaration of 27 lawmakers who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as illegitimate.
