 Paul Okoye calls out his twin, Peter Okoye over alleged song theft Popular singer and half of PSquare, Paul Okoye, aka Rudeboy, has called out his twin brother and former bandmate, Peter Okoye, aka Mr P, and his producer over an alleged song theft. Mr P recently released a song titled ‘Winning’ following the group’s third breakup earlier this year. However, in an Instagram post, Rudeboy alleged that he wrote and sang the song with a certain producer, who then hijacked it and gave it to his twin brother. He claimed that his brother recorded the song word for word with the same producer he worked with. Rudeboy lamented that he submitted 6 songs to the so-called management and questioned why they were re-singing his song word for word.

 Canada orders shutdown of TikTok business operation The Canadian government has ordered Chinese-owned TikTok to shut down its business operations in Canada, citing national security concerns. Industry Minister François-Philippe Champagne who announced the decision on Wednesday, said that the order was issued to address risks linked to ByteDance Ltd.’s creation of TikTok Technology Canada Inc. “The decision was based on the information and evidence collected over the course of the review and on the advice of Canada’s security and intelligence community and other government partners,” Champagne said in a statement. However, the government clarified that this does not block Canadians from accessing the app. Users can continue to create new accounts and browse the platform. Despite this, the government urged Canadians to adopt good cybersecurity practices and assess the risks of using social media platforms.  I’m not afraid of EFCC – Obaseki Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has expressed his readiness to submit himself to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, if the agency requires his presence in connection with his eight years of stewardship in the state. Obaseki stated this on Wednesday during the EdoBEST National Results-Sharing Session in Abuja, where he highlighted his administration’s achievements. “I’m not afraid of the EFCC. Why should I be? What is important is focus. I came into office and ignored the noise, concentrating on what I felt was important, and today you can see the results,” Obaseki said. “If the EFCC calls on me, I will hand myself over; I have nothing to hide.” The outgoing governor also expressed his belief that the vindictiveness and bitterness in the political landscape are secondary to addressing the real challenges faced by the country.

 16-Year-Old Girl Dies by Suicide After Harassment Over Headscarf A 16-year-old student, Arezo Khavari, took her own life after confrontations with school officials over not wearing a headscarf and threats of expulsion from school.  Arezo's father has filed a formal complaint against the school officials and the principal. Pardis Rabiee, a women's rights activist, reported that Arezo was very social and had many friends, according to some of her friends. During a school trip on Tuesday, the assistant principal reprimanded Arezo for her attire. To ease tensions, Arezo even changed her trousers. She had been wearing jeans that day and briefly removed her headscarf while playfully interacting with classmates, an act the assistant principal disapproved of. The assistant principal reportedly filmed Arezo and threatened to report the video to the principal, which could lead to her expulsion.  Nigerian-American Oye Owolewa re-elected to US congress Oye Owolewa, a Nigerian-American Democrat, has been re-elected as the shadow representative for the District of Columbia (DC). Owolewa, a PhD graduate from Northeastern University in Boston, made history in November 2020 when he became the first Nigerian-American elected to congress. He secured 164,026 votes, or 82.84 percent of the total votes cast in DC. His role, while not officially recognised by the US government as a full member of congress, is to advocate for the district’s interests, particularly its bid for statehood.
