INEC Assures Nigerians Every Valid Vote Will Count in 2027 Elections The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured Nigerians that every valid vote will count in the 2027 general elections, pledging a credible process that reflects the will of the people. The assurance was given on Thursday by Dr Adejumo Peter, Head of Voter Education and Publicity at INEC Kwara State, during a seminar organised by the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Ilorin. Dr Peter said the electoral body would strictly adhere to its rules and procedures to ensure free, fair and credible elections based on the principle of one person, one vote. “INEC in Kwara will follow the rules and procedures as laid down by our commission. We will ensure that the elections are done on a one-man, one-vote basis. At the end of the exercise, the outcome of the elections will reflect the will of the people,” he said. I specially appreciate the Tiv Traditional Council led by the Tor Tiv, Professor James Ayatse for the Chieftancy Title and honour given to me, my wife and my collegue Governors of Sokoto, Nasarawa and Enugu states for our support to the state especially in her trying moments.
Nigeria now more than ever needs such handshakes across our sub national units as no one is safe until we are all safe and no one can truely be happy until we are all happy. Gestures like this goes a long way to build a united and harmonious Nation with strong bonds of love and friendship among our component units.
I also congratulate the people of Benue State as we participated in the commisioning of the Shaahu Road in Gboko Town, Aper Aku Road, Prof. Martin Dent Road, and a new Palace built for the the Tor Tiv by the Benue State Government.More photos below.
