INEC Assures Nigerians Every Valid Vote Will Count in 2027 Elections The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured Nigerians that every valid vote will count in the 2027 general elections, pledging a credible process that reflects the will of the people. The assurance was given on Thursday by Dr Adejumo Peter, Head of Voter Education and Publicity at INEC Kwara State, during a seminar organised by the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Ilorin. Dr Peter said the electoral body would strictly adhere to its rules and procedures to ensure free, fair and credible elections based on the principle of one person, one vote. “INEC in Kwara will follow the rules and procedures as laid down by our commission. We will ensure that the elections are done on a one-man, one-vote basis. At the end of the exercise, the outcome of the elections will reflect the will of the people,” he said. Accountant General Suspends Staff Over IPPIS Breach


The Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) says it has suspended a staff member over a breach of the federal government’s salary payment system, Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).


A statement by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Mr Bawa Mokwa, refuted reports of salary padding in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), using the IPPIS platform.


“We are in receipt of enquiries over alleged “salary padding” on the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) involving some unspecified Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA).


“This is to inform the general public that there is no evidence of “salary padding” before the OAGF at this time.”
