 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe. JIGAWA STATE INAUGURATES 19-MEMBER HISBAH REVIEW COMMITTEE. (PHOTOS).

Jigawa State Inaugurates 19-Member Hisbah Review Committee 

Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa state has inaugurated a 19-member Hisbah Review Committee, with Alhaji Bala Ibrahim, the Secretary to the state Government as chairman.

The main tasks of the committee includes assessing the number and effectiveness of Hisbah guards in the state, their roles and activities, and examining logistics.

The committee will also evaluate the impact of Hisbah on upholding Islamic moral and ethical standards and review related legal documents.

The committee is expected to submit a comprehensive report with findings, recommendations, and proposed legal changes to improve the State Hisbah within four weeks.

Speaking during the inauguration, Alhaji Bala Ibrahim expressed appreciation for the Governor's commitment to moral values based on Islamic teachings. 

The SSG emphasized the importance of Hisbah in addressing societal challenges like drug abuse, rape and abandoned babies. 

Radio Nigeria reports that, the committee members include government officials, legal practitioners, and representatives from various sectors.
