 Kim Jong Un tells North Koreans to 'turn their dogs into soup' during deadly heatwave North Koreans have been urged to eat dog soup as the country struggles to manage a brutal heatwave. A state newspaper in the country published an interview with one of the nation's top doctors that encouraged citizens to start making the highly controversial soup dish. Translated as "sweet meat soup", the article published in Rodong Sinmun describes the dish as offering North Koreans a "highly nutritious" food option that can help counter the symptoms of heat stroke, such as "cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and hyperthyroidism", according to the South China Morning Post. It has also long been believed to cause increased virility in men, as well as boosting immune systems.  Police apprehend suspect in LA golf club assault that left 70-year-old Sikh man severely injured

A homeless man has been arrested in connection with the assault of a 70-year-old man in North Hollywood, Los Angeles.

Richard Vitagliano is accused of attacking Harpal Singh on Aug. 4 with a golf club while Singh was on his daily walk near the Sikh Gurdwara of LA. Police identified Vitagliano from surveillance footage and took him into custody later that night in North Hollywood. Vitagliano, known to local authorities as unhoused, has an extensive criminal record involving drug, assault, and weapons charges.

Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell said the attack was not being treated as a hate crime, explaining it stemmed from a property dispute involving the victim. Extra patrols are being deployed in the area to enhance community safety.

Members of the Sikh community, however, have expressed concern about the determination. Singh’s brother, Gurdial Singh Randhawa, called for a fuller understanding of the attack, emphasizing the need for justice and safety around the gurdwara. The Sikh Coalition also stated that it is too early to definitively rule out the incident as a hate crime.

Vitagliano remains in Van Nuys jail, facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon.
