INEC Assures Nigerians Every Valid Vote Will Count in 2027 Elections The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured Nigerians that every valid vote will count in the 2027 general elections, pledging a credible process that reflects the will of the people. The assurance was given on Thursday by Dr Adejumo Peter, Head of Voter Education and Publicity at INEC Kwara State, during a seminar organised by the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Ilorin. Dr Peter said the electoral body would strictly adhere to its rules and procedures to ensure free, fair and credible elections based on the principle of one person, one vote. “INEC in Kwara will follow the rules and procedures as laid down by our commission. We will ensure that the elections are done on a one-man, one-vote basis. At the end of the exercise, the outcome of the elections will reflect the will of the people,” he said.  BENUE: ROAD ACCIDENT OCCURS AROUND MASAJE IN GBOKO

Gboko, Benue State –A road accident occurred on Tuesday around Masaje community in Gboko Local Government Area, causing panic among commuters and residents in the area.


Eyewitnesses said the crash involved a commercial vehicle and a motorcycle, though the exact cause of the accident could not be immediately ascertained. Some victims reportedly sustained injuries, while others escaped unhurt.


Residents of Masaje rushed to the scene to render first aid before the arrival of security operatives and local emergency responders. Traffic was temporarily disrupted as passersby gathered around the accident spot, leading to a brief gridlock.


As at the time of filing this report, the number of casualties and the condition of those injured had not been officially confirmed. Authorities of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Gboko were yet to release an official statement on the incident.


Community members have since appealed for urgent measures, including better road signage and enforcement of traffic rules, to prevent further accidents along the route, which has become notorious for road mishaps.
