Kaduna State Council of Imams and Ulama has dissociated itself from a statement allegedly issued in its name in response to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna State Chapter, over remarks credited to former Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
In a clarification signed by its Chairman, Mallam Ibrahim Nakaka, the Council said it neither authorized nor mandated Dr. Yusuf Yakubu Arrigasiyyu to speak on its behalf, stressing that his comments were his personal opinion and not the official position of the body.
“The Council has no interest in joining issues with former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, CAN, or any political actor on matters that risk inflaming passions or threatening peace in our state,” the statement read.
The group emphasized that Kaduna has endured too much religious and ethnic strife and that what residents need now is unity, dialogue, and efforts to consolidate peace and development in line with Governor Uba Sani’s Kaduna Peace Model.
It further urged religious and political leaders to exercise restraint, avoid divisive remarks, and guide their followers with wisdom, adding that the state’s future depends on harmony, mutual respect, and progress.
