 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe.  Five Suspects Arrested Following Series of Robberies


Five suspects, aged between 19 and 30, were arrested on the N4 Road near the Kanyamazane turn-off on Saturday, 06 September 2025. Police recovered two firearms, several mobile phones, and other stolen items during the arrest.


The breakthrough follows two robbery incidents earlier in the day. The first took place at a church in Ngwenyeni near Komatipoort around 03:30 in the morning. During the attack, a 14-year-old boy was injured when the suspects fired shots. He was taken to hospital for medical treatment.


The second robbery occurred at a tavern in Madadeni, also near Komatipoort, in the Nkomazi area.


Meanwhile, in a separate incident on Friday evening, 05 September 2025, a 22-year-old suspect was fatally shot after allegedly robbing congregants at a mosque in Kwaggafontein. During the incident, three victims were shot and sustained injuries.


The arrested suspects are expected to appear at the Kanyamazane Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 08 September 2025. They will face charges including possession of unlicensed firearms and possession of suspected stolen property, among others.
