Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London.  If Nigerians want this country to change, we can make it change- Peter Obi

The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, while responding to his political future has reiterated that currently he is in labour but is also subscribed to the coalition ADC party, but meanwhile there is the need for clear national agreements and political understanding as Nigeria navigates its democratic future. Speaking on Nedus podcast concerning political realignments ahead of coming elections, Obi acknowledged his alignment with the Labour Party as well as the  ADC coalition but stressed that key governance fundamental areas must be clearly defined for true progress.

Obi emphasized that while coalitions are important, they must be grounded in shared principles, structured dialogue, and respect for established norms.

According to him, unresolved issues — including the unwritten national understanding on power rotation and the presidency — need to be openly discussed and properly documented to ensure fairness, stability, and national cohesion.

“There are still some fine lines that need to be respected,” he said. “We must sit down and talk about where we are driving the country to. There is an unsigned agreement about the presidency, about the rotation of the office. All these need to be put in place for the country to move forward.”

Obi added that meaningful political change remains possible if Nigerians collectively demand accountability and good governance.

“If Nigerians want this country to change, we can make it change,” he stated.
