Amanda Vogel posted a video in December 2025 that went unbelievably viral and shined a light on the perceived failings of a local school district.
In the video, which was originally recorded in 2023, you see that Amanda's daughter, who is wheelchair bound, is being placed to the side during a school program. The child appears to be an afterthought and simply pushed to the side during the program while all the other children had active rolls.
In the video, Amanda contends that this incident prompted her to home school her child. The video also stated, "The solution was so simple. A row on the floor that included her."
After the video racked up a staggering 11.6 million views, the school was inundated with calls and negative feedback.
The "unwanted attention" apparently prompted the school to involve local law enforcement. On two separate occasions, officers with the Pittsville P.D. showed up at Amanda's home, urging her to take down the video. The chief of police personally made one of those visits.
Not only did the school urge police to pressure Amanda into removing the video, but they also had an attorney send a cease-and-desist letter accusing Amanda of defamation.
After receiving the December 19th cease-and-desist letter, Amanda sought legal counsel through the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL).
An attorney with WILL sent a letter to the school formally rejecting the school's demands. In the letter, the attorney informed the school that Amanda was "mulling over her next steps in defending her free speech."
The letter went on to say, "We assume you know that under the First Amendment, the school district, as a government body, cannot make a claim for defamation. As a governmental body, the School District of Pittsville violated [Vogel's] First Amendment rights by sending the police to her door to tell her to stop speaking in public about the district."
