7 DEFAULTERS ARRESTED BY THE ANTI-OPEN DEFECATION SQUAD OF LAWMA. (PHOTO). #PRESS RELEASE

The Anti-Open Defecation Squad of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) was on early morning monitoring and enforcement duty across Ebute Ero, Sura–Simpson and adjoining areas of Lagos Island to curb open defecation and other environmental nuisances.

During the operation, seven (7) defaulters were apprehended at Ebute Ero, Inner Marina and Apongbon. The offenders are being conveyed to the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) Headquarters, Oshodi, for further investigation and prosecution in accordance with environmental laws.

1. Shile Suraj – 65yrs, Male, Osun State

2. Chika Chibuzor – 21yrs, Male, Anambra State

Occupation: Business

3. Ganiu Mustafa – 35yrs, Male, Kwara State

Address: Apongbon

Occupation: Trading

Offence: Open defecation

4. Justice Ugo – 52yrs, Male, Imo State

Address: Aboru, Iyana Ipaja

Occupation: Driver

Offence: Open defecation

5. Ajala Olanrewaju – 33yrs, Male, Oyo State

Address: 13, Odofin, Ebute Ero

Occupation: Unemployed

LAWMA reiterates its zero-tolerance stance on open defecation, as it poses serious public health and environmental risks. Enforcement operations will continue across identified hotspots to safeguard public spaces and uphold sanitation standards.
