Kaduna-based on-air personality, Mohammed Suleiman, popularly known as Mowiz, has accused social commentator Steven Kefas of spreading incorrect information regarding the recent abduction incident in Kurmin Wali, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Mowiz made the allegation after reportedly meeting with a member of the security team involved in handling the incident. According to him, the operative provided what he described as “hardline truth with evidence,” challenging earlier reports about the scale of the abduction.
While confirming that an abduction did occur, Suleiman claimed the number of victims was significantly lower than widely reported. He stated that about 80 individuals fled into neighboring villages without mobile network coverage out of fear during the incident and began returning home days later, which may have contributed to inflated figures in initial reports.
The controversy also centers on a list of abducted persons previously shared by Steven Kefas on social media. The list was later deleted.
Mowiz alleged that the deleted list did not correspond with information shown to him by the security source. He noted, however, that Kefas appeared to acknowledge an error by taking the post down.
In addition, he alleged that there is a recorded conversation involving a bandit and a village head discussing missing motorcycles. According to the claims, some motorcycles belonging to them had been kept in communal custody but were allegedly stolen by local youths.
"As a means of getting their bikes back they now abducted those worshippers during church service, demanding for a certain amount as compensation for their stolen bikes", he wrote.
He further referenced photographs allegedly showing the Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Area attending a Christian gathering last week, where he reportedly addressed a crowd of about 1,000 people who applauded his remarks.
He questioned why the chairman was well received despite earlier statements attributed to him suggesting that no abduction had taken place in the area.
