 Zango Kataf, Jaba PDP Committees Hold Reconciliation Meeting Ahead Of 2027 Elections


The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Working Committees in Zango Kataf and Jaba Local Government Areas have held a strategic reconciliation meeting aimed at strengthening party unity and positioning the party for success in the 2027 general elections.


The meeting, held on Friday, July 31, 2026, in Jaba Local Government Area, was jointly chaired by the PDP Chairmen of Jaba and Zango Kataf LGAs, Sabastine David Bijiri and Martins Markus Koyah. It brought together party executives, stakeholders, ward officials, elders, youth and women leaders, as well as members from both local government areas.


Speaking at the meeting, the Zango Kataf PDP Chairman commended party leaders and members for supporting the zoning of the party’s House of Representatives ticket to Zango Kataf Local Government Area. He described the decision as a reflection of the party’s commitment to fairness, equity, inclusion, and mutual respect between the two councils, urging members to remain united ahead of the 2027 polls.


In his remarks, the Jaba PDP Chairman praised party members for their maturity and commitment during the process that produced Hon. Rijo Shekari as the party’s candidate for the Zango Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency. He encouraged members to sustain the spirit of unity and work collectively toward the party’s electoral success.


Addressing party faithful, Hon. Rijo Shekari stressed the need for stronger collaboration between Zango Kataf and Jaba LGAs, pledging to lead an inclusive campaign that reflects the aspirations of the people.


Shekari also responded to concerns surrounding his emergence as the PDP candidate, clarifying issues relating to the screening and primary election process for the federal constituency seat. He maintained that his candidacy represents unity, progress, inclusion, and mutual respect, and appealed to party members to set aside differences in the interest of the party and the people.


Discussions during the meeting centred on resolving internal grievances, rebuilding trust among members, strengthening party cohesion, and developing strategies for grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.


Participants unanimously agreed that a united PDP would be better positioned to secure victory at the local government, state, and federal levels.


The meeting ended with party leaders, stakeholders, and members reaffirming their commitment to work together in unity and to support the PDP and its candidates in the 2027 general elections.
